For many newer riders, heading out on the road for the first time can be a bit frightening. Plus, you might not even know how to go about obtaining a motorcycle license in Connecticut. What You’ll Need for a Connecticut Motorcycle License
To go on bike rides in CT, you’ll need to have a motorcycle endorsement on your Connecticut driver’s license.
In order to obtain the endorsement, you’ll need to complete an application, and a parental consent form if you’re under the age of 18. Then, you’ll need to complete a 16-question motorcycle knowledge test at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Once you get that done, you’ll be eligible for a motorcycle learner’s permit. With a permit, you’ll be able to ride in daylight hours provided you follow certain restrictions.
Then, you’ll need to complete a novice motorcycle safety course. After that, you’ll be able to add an “M” endorsement to your Connecticut license.
Where to Turn for Classes and More
Here at Mike’s Famous®, we offer motorcycle classes that meet the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles requirements for obtaining an M endorsement. Our course is approved in Rhode Island, too!

The course is structured to provide you with all the knowledge you’ll need to learn to ride a bike. First, you’ll complete an online e-course and an orientation at our dealership. Then, you’ll receive two days of training on the range at Mike’s Famous®.
Our course is Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved and offers personalized instruction in a beautiful environment. And after you complete our course, we’ll keep in touch and make sure you’re informed about advanced classes, bike rides in CT, and more!
